To root any Xiaomi phone, you simple need to follow these steps.

Step 1: Download the following tools.

Step 2: Now copy the Super SU file to SD card. Meanwhile, extract the recovery image (.img) file from recovery image that you downloaded for your phone from the list above.

Once extracted, move the .img file to MiPhone>Google>Android folder inside the Xiaomi folder on your C drive.

Rename this file to ‘recovery.img’ without quotes.

Step 3: You’ve done the major part. Now it’s the bits and pieces that’s left behind. Shutdown your phone.

Now boot it into fast boot mode by holding the specific combination of hardware keys on your phone.

Step 4: Now open the folder where you moved the recovery image on your computer hard drive. Right click in a blank area and open command prompt from the context menu. Make sure your phone is connected to your PC at this point.

Step 5: Now search for fastboot devices using command prompt. Simply type ‘fastboot devices’ without quotes and hit enter.

Now you need to type another command to go to fastboot recovery. The command is ‘fastboot boot recovery.img’ without quotes.

Step 6: If you’ve done everything right until now, your phone should enter the recovery mode once you hit enter in the last step. You will install Super Su from here.

Simply click install from SD card and navigate to the location of Super SU file on your SD card. Once you have selected the SU file, the process will continue.

Wait for it to finish.
