Tutorial To Update Nexus 10 Device Manually With Official KitKat 4.4 (KRT 16S)

If you are a Nexus 10 users and want to update your device with latest KitKat 4.4 firmware then you can do the same manually by following the given below tutorial. The new OTA update is dubbed as KRT16S.

Since this is an official update, it will never void the warranty of your phone.



ADB in your computer

Windows PC/Linux/Mac

Pre requisites:

1.First, take a backup of all your internal data with the help of appropriate backup applications.

(a)To take a backup of SMS, MMS, Contacts and Call log appropriate backup applications are available on the Google Play Store. So, use that to take a backup.

(b)Next copy the other data’s like Images, Videos, Files and Songs to the internal or external SD card so, then it will be safe.

(c)Note down the APN and MMS settings somewhere by following the path Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names.

2.Next check the battery percentage level of your Nexus 5 tablet; if it is less than 75% then charge them fully.

3.Finally, make sure all the required USB drivers are installed.

Procedure to Update Nexus 10 with KitKat 4.4 manually:

1.First, connect your device to the computer with the help of original USB cable.

2.Now, go to the Settings > About Phone > Click on the Build Number 7 times or until you see the message as “You are now a developer”.

3.Once you have seen that message, exit from the About Phone and scroll over to “Developer Options” and enable the USB debugging option.

4.Now a warning pop up with the computers unique RSA number asking if you want to connect to the computer. Click “Always connect to computer” and accept.

5.Now download the Kit Kat 4.4 zip file (KRT16S from KRT160 |KRT16S from JWR66Y) from here to your computer and place them in the “Platform-tools” of your Android SDK folder.

6.After that Rename the firmware zip file as “KitKat”.

7.After that disconnect the USB cable from the computer and turn OFF the tablet and press the Volume Down and Power ON button so, then it will enter into the Bootloader mode.

8.Click the Volume Up button until you see the words “Recovery mode”. Press the Power button to accept it.

9.A Google logo will appear and you will be greeted by an Android with an exclamation mark and the words “no command written”.

10.Now, again connect your tablet to the computer using USB cable.

11.Hold the Power button first and then hold the Volume up button while holding them press the Power button. Using Volume Down button, go down and select “apply update from ADB” and hit the power button to accept.

12.Open the command prompt in your computer and enter the given below comment: “adb sideload Android KitKat.zip”.

13.After that wait for few minutes to apply the update.

14.Once the update is finished, your tablet will reboot automatically.

To check the update is successful, navigate to the path “Settings > About Device > Firmware Version”. There you can see the latest update i.e Kitkat update which is dubbed as KRT16S.
