Update LG Optimus Black P970 To Android 4.2.2 JellyBean

In the previous article, we have come up with the tutorial to update LG Optimus Black P970 smartphone using official android 4.0 ICS ROM. However, in case if you want to update LG Optimus Black P970 via a custom ROM then you can do the same by JellyBeer v4. It is a Jelly Bean custom firmware based on another CM10.1 ROM with few added modification.

1.First, check your device model number by going to Settings > About Phone; as this procedure is suitable for only LG Optimus Black P970 smartphone. So, don’t try this in any other model.

2.Next take a complete backup of your internal datas which includes SMS, MMS, Call log etc.

3.Next sync your Contact numbers to your G.mail account. So, then it will be safe.

4.Next copy all your songs, images, files, videos etc.. on your internal or external SD card.

5.The APN Settings and MMS settings are also important so, note the pin numbers or software number for that settings somewhere. To note it down; go to “Applications > Settings > Wireless and Network > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names”.

7.Next, to update your LG Optimus Black P970 smartphone you need to install the USB driver on your PC.

Procedure to Update LG Optimus Black P970 smartphone with Jellybeer v4 ROM:

1.To update LG Optimus Black smartphone, first you need to download the Jellybeer v4 ROM from here to your computer.

2.Next, again download the Google apps from here to your computer.

3.So, once you downloaded both the files connect your LG Optimus Black P970 smartphone to the computer using USB cable.

4.Once, the computer detected your android smartphone; copy the downloaded files to the SD card of your LG Optimus Black P970 smartphone.

5.Then disconnect the USB cable from your phone and turn off the same.

6.Then allow your phone to boot into Clockwork Mod Recovery by pressing and holding the Volume Up and Home buttons first and then press and hold the Power button along with other two keys for a while.

7.Now, you will see the ClockworkMod Recovery option. Use the volume keys to browse between the options in recovery; at the same time use the Power key to select an option.

8.Now, perform a Nandroid backup on your smartphone. It will backup the existing ROM. In case, if you want to use that existing ROM then you can get them back by using the nandroid backup.

9.To perform a Nandroid backup; select “Backup and Restore”, on the next screen select the Backup again. Once the backup is complete go back to the recovery menu and perform the wiping task.

10.To wipe the data you need to select the “wipe data and factory reset” option. To confirm the same, you need to tap on the “Yes” option.

11.Wait for few minutes until the wiping process is complete. Now, come back to the CWM recovery main menu and select the “wipe cache partition and wipe dalvik cache” under advance option to perform the dalvik cache wiping.

12.Next again select “install zip from SD Card > Choose zip from SD card” and select the file Jelly beer file which you have already copied them on your SD card. To select the file press the Power button.

13.Then confirm the installation by selecting the Yes – Install the Jellybeer file on the next screen. Once you confirm the option, the installation process starts to begin.

14.Once the ROM installation was finished; again select the gapps from your SD card. Repeat the above mentioned process again to install it on your LG Optimus Black P970 smartphone.

15.Once the installation process was finished; go back to the main recovery menu and select the “reboot system now” option to reboot the phone and boot up into the customized android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean ROM Jellybeer v4.

16.The first boot up will take more time than the expected time to settle everything on your phone. So, don’t be panic and wait till it boot up automatically.

17.In any situation, if you want to go to your previous ROM, boot into recovery and select “backup and restore”. Then the previous ROM will be restored.
