Update Motorola Defy With Superstable Android ICS 4.0.4 Firmware

But before that just know about this firmware. It is not an official firmware released by Motorola but created and released by the Cyanogen Mod (CM) team. It is a CM9 android 4.0.4 ICS based on Froyo kernel so, it will work only on Motorola Defy running Froyo kernel.

Since it is a custom ROM firmware your Motorola Defy must be rooted. So, first root the device and then come here to update with Superstable android 4.0.4 ICS sandwich firmware. 5.Finally, once you followed all the above mentioned instructions put your device in charge and allow it charge upto 100%. So, then you can avoid the risk of your device getting switched OFF due to battery low.

Procedure to Update Motorola Defy with Superstable android ICS 4.0.4 firmware:

1.First download the android 4.0.4 ICS firmware package from here to your computer.

2.Next download the Gapps package from here. It is essential to download this file so, then your Motorola Defy will get all the Google apps for your android. You need to flash this Gapps package only after you have successfully installed the custom ROM firmware on your android device.

3.So, once you downloaded both the above mentioned files, connect your Motorola Defy with the computer by using USB cable.

4.After that move the downloaded zip files to your phone’s SD card. Don’t extract the files simply place it in your SD card. Don’t keep those files deep into any sub folders because it is difficult to detect while you updating the Superstable ICS 4.0.4 firmware.

5.After that Turn OFF your Motorola Defy and boot it to enter into the recovery mode. You can enter into the recovery mode simply by pressing and holding the Volume Down button and Power button simultaneously.

6.By doing so, your device will ON and entered into the recovery mode. In that mode, you need to select “install zip from SD card>choose zip from SD card”.

7.After that you can able to see your downloaded files i.e Superstable ICS 4.0.4 firmware and Gapps firmware. So, just select those 2 firmwares and press the power button to confirm the same.

8.Now, the firmware is installed on your device wait until the process is finished. The device will automatically come to the recovery mode. If it not comes to that mode you just select the “++++Go Back++++” button and choose the option of “reboot system now” for rebooting the phone.

That’s it! Now, your Motorola Defy is successfully updated with Superstable ICS 4.0.4 firmware. Enjoy its full features on your phone.

1. Since this firmware is not officially released by Motorola and released by third-party developers you may have some bugs and errors or some adverse effects. For that we won’t be held responsible or liable.

    I have Motorola Defy, i want to know which is the most stable customer rom for this device.
    I have tried installing the CM 10 last year, but did not work, was not able to make or receive calls.

    I have installed back stock rom again.

    Please mail me, if you know if there is any other customer rom that I can installed other than CM 10.
